Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto

Your Initial Fertility Consultation

Your first fertility-focused naturopathic appointment is a comprehensive, one-on-one consultation designed to understand your reproductive health in context. During this visit, your Naturopathic Doctor will take the time to learn about your menstrual cycle, fertility journey, pregnancy history (if applicable), and any challenges you may be experiencing, such as irregular cycles, hormonal imbalances, recurrent pregnancy loss, or difficulty conceiving.

They will review your full health history, current lifestyle, stress levels, nutrition, sleep, and environmental factors that may influence fertility. If you have recent blood work, imaging, or fertility testing (such as hormone panels, semen analysis, or ultrasound results), these will be carefully reviewed. A focused physical exam may be performed when relevant.

Based on this information, your Naturopathic Doctor may recommend additional diagnostic testing to gain clearer insight into hormone balance, nutrient status, metabolic health, or inflammatory markers. Together, you will begin building a fertility care plan that aligns with your goals, timeline, and day-to-day life.

Your Personalized Fertility Treatment Plan

Fertility treatment in naturopathic medicine is highly individualized. Your care plan is designed to support hormonal balance, ovulation, egg and sperm quality, implantation, and overall reproductive health.

Your Naturopathic Doctor will often start with nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, as these form the foundation of fertility health. This may include guidance around blood sugar regulation, inflammation, nutrient repletion, stress management, and cycle support. Where appropriate, targeted nutritional or herbal supplements may be recommended to address deficiencies, support endocrine function, or optimize fertility-related processes.

Supplements are used intentionally and strategically — you won’t leave with an overwhelming list. Instead, your plan focuses on sustainable changes that support your body over time, recognizing that fertility is influenced by daily habits, consistency, and long-term health patterns.

Acupuncture and Fertility Support

Acupuncture is often used alongside naturopathic fertility care to support cycle regulation, hormone balance, stress reduction, and blood flow to the reproductive organs. When included as part of your fertility plan, acupuncture treatments are most effective when done consistently.

Many clients benefit from weekly acupuncture sessions for 6–10 weeks, particularly when preparing for conception, supporting assisted reproductive treatments, or addressing irregular cycles. Your care team will guide you on frequency and timing based on your individual fertility goals.

Fertility Support for Partners

Fertility is a shared journey. We strongly recommend assessing and supporting both partners to optimize outcomes. Partners can book individual appointments with our Naturopathic Doctor to review hormone health, sperm quality, nutrient status, lifestyle factors, and overall reproductive wellness.

Each partner receives a personalized treatment plan tailored to their specific needs, recognizing that comprehensive fertility care extends beyond a single individual.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will my Naturopathic Doctor do differently from my Medical Doctor?

A Naturopathic Doctor typically spends more time with you than a Medical Doctor to get a thorough health and medical history. We take into consideration all aspects of your health, including not just your physical symptoms and your blood work results, but also your mental and emotional health, diet, and lifestyle. Optimizing your health is of utmost importance in the preconception period – this leads to the healthiest eggs and ultimately a healthy pregnancy. If you are trying for natural conception, our Naturopathic Doctors will help you understand your menstrual cycle and how to optimize timing, and work to improve your overall health with to support the health of your eggs. If you are using assisted reproductive technology like IUI or IVF, our Naturopathic Doctors can provide support to help optimize your chances of conception, help you to minimize stress, and also support you to optimize your overall health which will lead to the best outcomes and a healthy pregnancy.

Treatment will vary from person to person, since each plan is individualized based on your health history and your goals. The treatment plan will be designed to help address the underlying cause of your health concern or condition. The cornerstones of Naturopathic Care are diet and lifestyle, so our Naturopathic Doctors will work with you to ensure that your daily habits are supporting your fertility. Our Naturopathic Doctors may also recommend supplements or natural health products like vitamins, minerals, nutrients and herbs to help bring hormones back into balance, to replenish something your body might be deficient in, or to reduce inflammation or oxidation. Naturopathic Doctors also use acupuncture to support hormone levels, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve chances of conception.

Our Naturopathic Doctors help those who have been diagnosed with PCOS, endometriosis, hypothyroidism, or hormonal imbalances. Our Naturopathic Doctors also work with partners to optimize sperm health, and can provide support when sperm count or motility are low. They can also help to support those who have been given a diagnosis of “unexplained infertility” by diving deeper into factors that may be playing a role that a medical doctor doesn’t asses for.
