Prenatal Massage Toronto

Trusted care for every trimester

Prenatal Massage Toronto

Pregnancy is one of the most transformative seasons in a woman’s life. It can also be one of the most physically demanding.

At kāer, Toronto’s original women’s wellness clinic, our registered massage therapists have provided expert prenatal massage since 2012.

We understand the changing needs of a pregnant body.

Our care is designed to ease discomfort, support circulation, and create space for rest and restoration throughout every stage of pregnancy.

What Is Prenatal Massage?

Prenatal massage — also known as pregnancy massage — is therapeutic massage adapted specifically for the needs of pregnant women.

Evidence-informed techniques help relieve the common physical discomforts of pregnancy while supporting overall wellbeing.

At kāer, every prenatal massage is performed by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) with specialized training in pregnancy care.

You will be positioned comfortably on your side, supported by bolsters.

This safe, restful position allows your therapist to work gently through the back, hips, and legs without placing pressure on the abdomen.

What Can Prenatal Massage Help With?

Pregnancy places significant demands on the body.

Prenatal massage can help ease many of the most common discomforts

Back and hip pain

As your belly grows and your centre of gravity shifts, strain through the lower back and hips often increases.

Therapeutic massage helps release tension around the pelvis and spine, offering meaningful relief.

Sciatica

Pressure on the sciatic nerve can create sharp pain, numbness, or tingling through the lower back and legs.

Targeted massage techniques help reduce compression and restore comfort.

Swelling and edema

Fluid retention in the legs, ankles, and feet is common during the second and third trimesters.

Gentle massage supports healthy circulation and lymphatic flow, helping reduce swelling safely.

Anxiety and sleep

Pregnancy brings emotional shifts alongside physical change.

Massage has been shown to reduce cortisol levels, support relaxation, and encourage deeper, more restorative sleep.

The needs of a pregnant body change with every trimester.

Our therapists are trained to provide the right care at every stage — from the sensitivity of the first trimester, through the growing demands of the second, to the deep relief so many clients seek in the third.

kāer is not a general clinic that happens to offer prenatal massage.

Care for women — including pregnancy and postpartum — is the foundation of our practice.

Your Prenatal Massage Experience

  • Your session begins with a brief intake conversation.
  • Your therapist will ask about your pregnancy, how you’re feeling, and what you would most like support with today.
  • You will then be guided to a private treatment room and positioned comfortably on your side with bolster and pillow support.
  • Your therapist works with steady, attentive care, adjusting pressure and pace to what feels right for your body.

Many clients choose to combine prenatal massage with other kāer services — pelvic floor physiotherapy, naturopathic care, or prenatal yoga — as part of a supportive pregnancy wellness plan.

Our Wellness Concierge can help you build a personalized path through pregnancy and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I start enjoying Prenatal Massage?

Massage during pregnancy can be enjoyed anytime. If you have specific concerns or prenatal conditions, you will need to consult with your healthcare provider prior to receiving your first prenatal massage treatment with us.

Registered massage therapy is covered by most extended health benefit plans. Prenatal massage falls under Registered Massage Therapy. You will be provided with a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement. If you have specific benefits questions we kindly suggest that you contact your insurance provider.

You will enjoy your prenatal massage on a traditional and comfortable massage table. You will be supported with specific pregnancy pillows, cushions and padded wedges to provide you with comfort and support. As your pregnancy progresses, your treatments will be offered in side-lying positions with additional support provided to allow for the most relaxing and therapeutic massage experience. Many pregnant people are surprised that they can still receive deep work in these positions and end up loving it. We do not offer massage tables that have holes in them allowing for pregnant people to lie in a face down position.

Wellness cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment time and will otherwise be charged in full. Clients who are in active labour at the time of their appointment will not be charged. Thank you for your understanding and support.
